44th Annual Fish Day Celebration Saturday, July 19, 2008 marks the 44th Annual Fish Day celebration in downtown Port Washington, WI. Billed as the "World's Largest One-Day Outdoor Fish Fry", this year's event promises to be as fun and exciting as ever. The theme for this year is: Cast Your Vote — Fish Day Party 2008. For a complete listing of the day's activities and starting times, we invite you to access the Port Fish Day, Inc. web site at www.portfishday.com. The Fish Day Run/Walk The day's activities start at 8:00AM with the 23rd Annual Fish Day Run/Walk to benefit Portal Industries. The 8K run is a competitive, scored event that courses through Port Washington's quiet neighborhoods, up and down several of the city's seven hills and concludes where it starts — in downtown Port Washington, next to the lake. The 2-Mile Fun Run and the 2-Mile Walk are not scored events; however, the first male and first female finishers of the 2-Mile Fun Run will receive an award and all finishers in both events will receive ribbons. Age categories for male and female participants in the 8K Run include: <13, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+. 8K awards are presented to the overall male and female finishers and to the first three (3) finishers in each age category (based on computer results) plus there's an award for the first running-stroller to cross the 8K finish line. Once again, Portal Industries is pleased to have Jim Ott serve as Honorary Chairman of the Fish Day Run/Walk and will once again be our official race starter. We hope you'll get involved With up to 900 runners and walkers involved, we need a very sizable volunteer workforce to make this event possible. If you're not interested in running or walking, we'd love to have you volunteer some time to help us with this very vital fundraising activity. Race day registration begins at 6:30 AM and runs to 7:30 AM at the Pebble House — the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce Headquarters — located at 126 East Grand Avenue . Parking is limited in downtown Port so please allow time to secure a parking place. The race line–up and brief announcements will be made at 7:45 AM and the gun sounds at 8:00 AM sharp for the 8K & 2 Mile runs. Walkers will immediately follow. If you would like to compete in this year's Fish Day Run/Walk, you can register on–line or you can pick up a registration form at Portal Industries, Ozaukee Bank in Port Washington or Harry's Restaurant in Port Washington. You can drop off your completed form at these same sites. If you're interested in volunteering your time to help us stage this exciting event, please call Marlene Morgan, Development Coordinator for Portal Industries, Inc. at (262) 377–4410, Ext 202. It takes a very large supporting cast to make an event like the Fish Day Run/Walk a safe and enjoyable success. Give Marlene a call if you can share some time.
