Adult Day Services
For some individuals with disabilities, work isn't a suitable option. The Adult Day
Services (ADS) Program at Portal is geared to serve those individuals who require more
extensive support and supervision as well as ongoing training and life skills development.
The mandate of this vital program is to encourage community integration and socialization
so participants in the ADS Program spend approximately half of their program day out in
the community and involved in a variety of activities. They may be involved in volunteer
work (folding church bulletins, helping deliver meals on wheels for seniors, visiting nursing
homes, etc.), attending local festivals and fairs, visiting area restaurants and businesses,
touring museums and cultural exhibits, and more. Or, participants may work on crafts or
help prepare a meal for their entire group — it's all about staying active and
being "connected" with the Ozaukee County community.
