Alternative Day Services

As our participant population ages, their needs, interests, and motivations change. For some, the desire to work a full 6–hour day has diminished. Getting older can affect motivation as well as physical ability and stamina. As a responsible caregiver, Portal Industries has observed these changes and as a result, has developed the Alternative Day Services Program (with the help of funding from the United Way of Northern Ozaukee County). This person–centered, interest–driven program was created to address the changing needs of those who can no longer stay focused on a full day of work. Its intent is to maintain or develop daily living skills such as community living, communications, and living independently. This dynamic program provides a framework for social, emotional and personal development by incorporating both learning and leisure activities.
